Eating the plant-based and low-fat vegan way

Silken Chocolate Vegan Pudding and I have stopped using DEODORANT

NIK_9786

Oh YES, I DID!!!  Chocolate pudding is comfort in any shape or form.  This version is completely vegan and easy on the waste without using any chemicals or weird foods nobody keeps in the cabinet.  It’s simply Silken tofu, cocoa powder, vanilla extract, and maple syrup.  That was it.

I will have the recipe down below, of course.  My inspiration was from the “Forks Over Knives” cookbook, but I had to change it amd make it more palatable for our tastes so I don’t mind putting the details down below.

A couple of things going on in the Bolisig household right now.  We recently learned what the urban meaning of “Crunchy” happened to be.  We had so much fun taking “crunchy tests” to monitor just how crunchy we actually are.  Which happens to be on the higher side of the crunch-o-meter.  With that being said, I should show you all just what I mean.

Adjective. Used to describe persons who have adjusted or altered their lifestyle for environmental reasons. Crunchy persons tend to be politically strongly left-leaning and may be additionally but not exclusively categorized as vegetarians, vegans, eco-tarians, conservationists, environmentalists, neo-hippies, tree huggers, nature enthusiasts, etc.
Also used to describe establishments where alternative foods and products are sold, i.e. natural food stores.
Modified derivative of granola.
“I need more crunchy guys in my life. I’m so tired of dating preppy metrosexual assholes.”
“I’m heading out to the crunchy store to pick up some fair trade chocolate and tea tree oil, do you need anything?”
Now that we cleared that up, I should talk a bit about how I have stopped using deodorant.  It was so scary the first two days.  The thought started when I was doing my Juice Fast at the beginning of the month.  I was putting toxins in my pits every night and it was really starting to bother me the more and more I fasted.  If I am over here trying to rid my body of chemical toxins then why am I continuing to put more and more into my body every night?
So I googled how to make my own B. O. supplies.  It’s a process.  All the shea butter and essential oils and not to mention some kind of clay.  I decided that I needed a simplier solution.  If my diet is so clean and without chemicals and animal products maybe I wouldn’t even NEED deodorant.  So I looked up other ways to stay fresh.  Lemon came up a bunch as well as vinegar.  So I went with lemon first.  Trust me with this, I sniffed and sniffed my pits ALL DAY LONG.  Had the husband sniffing too.  And what do you know, I SMELL AMAZING.  Kinda like maple syrup.  YEP..  I smell like breakfast treats.  I occasionally rub a lemon in my pits during the day before I work out, but truthfully it’s just for peace of mind cuz I don’t believe I actually need it.  Happy girl over here.  He has stopped using it too.  He also smells amazing.  No scent whatsoever.  Happy wifey over here too.

Silken Chocolate Pudding, Vegan
24oz Organic Silken Tofu, crumbled
1/2 C Pure Maple syrup
1/3 C Unsweetened cocoa powder
2 t vanilla extract
Put all ingredients in food processor and blend for several minutes until smooth.  Occasinally scraping the sides to ensure complete mixing.  Chill refriderator for several hours before serving and serve with fruit or maybe granola.  Slivered almonds were perfect with it.

I love making tofu chocolate pie!

But the real reason I’m here–natural deodorant. Apple cider vinegar works pretty well but coconut oil to the armpits works so good. It lightens them up and I swear less hair grows in too. I also make my own deodorant with arrowroot powder, baking soda and coconut oil. It’s the best deodorant I’ve ever used and I’m a stinky person. 🙂

Im always last to the party. Seems like everyone makes tofu pudding. ☺️. I am definitely gonna try the ACV one of these days. I envision a tiny spray bottle with water, acv and some essential oil for a nice scent. And i actually have been putting coconut oil every night affer my shower. I dream of a day where I wont have to shave them every single day.

That looks delicious and I do have all the ingredients, none of which are weird, in my cupboard. Thank you for sharing.

I love to use a teeny bit of baking soda ( I put on my hands – add 2-3 drops of Ameo Lavender essential oil) and the tiniest bit of warm until I rub my fingertips together to make a ‘slick’ paste. Dab on the pits and voila – no ‘onions’ from the curry the night before (groan) and just fresh all day.

Hey Sherri, simple is definitely the best for sure. There are a bunch of recipes out there and I’ve found that some white vinegar, a little baking soda (aluminum free of course) and lavender oil is 👌. I put it in a tiny spray bottle and couple little spritz is all I need. The thing that’s most impressive to me is that eating such a clean diet has really pointed out the things that come out of my skin. Garlic seems to be the worst and I LOVE it. I always cringe when I think how clueless I was before going plantbased.
